Wedding Guide GownRight from her childhood, every girl dreams of a perfect wedding with the perfect wedding gown. But once you say 'yes', how to do you go about looking for that perfect dress?
You can start by going through wedding websites and bridal magazines and you could even attend a few bridal shows to get familiar with designer wedding dresses. Cut out and store the photographs of dresses and designers you like. Determine the style of wedding dress and your budget from the type, location and style of the reception that you are going to have. You can ask relatives and friends to recommend some bridal stores in your locality.
You must start your shopping as soon as possible. Usually a wedding dress needs to be ordered specially. It can take up to 6 months for a designer dress or a special order to arrive. That is why you should order at least five to six months in advance. This gives enough time in case you require an alteration or a refit.
Don't go to too many shops in a day as this can tire you. It is best to be full of energy and fresh to make a sound selection. Exhaustion can lead to confusion and you might purchase a cheap dress just because you were tired. Take along with you photographs of gowns that you like and discuss with bridal consultants any plans or ideas that you may have. A consultant will know what style of dress will flatter your personality, figure and your budget. Take along a friend or family member for second opinion. But ensure that too many people don't come along with you as this can lead to confusion. Make sure you wear proper undergarments and a little bit of makeup to give the dress a better fit and look. Also carry a Polaroid camera so you can take photos that you can refer to later on.
It doesn't matter where your gown is ordered from, a sales contract will have to be drawn. So once you make your decision, make sure you stick to it and don't look back.
